You will support a client on their independence journey, helping them develop healthy living habits and engage in community activities.

Responsibilities

  • Support with food shopping, focusing on purchasing healthy, nutritious items and assisting with meal preparation.
  • Provide general assistance around the house, including light housework.
  • Offer mental well-being support and reassurance, helping the client overcome anxiety-inducing obstacles.
  • Help identify and access local activities such as aqua aerobics, cinema, discos, day trips, and dance classes, and participate where appropriate.
  • Encourage healthy lifestyle choices, including balanced eating and exercise.
  • Lead and initiate conversations to keep the client engaged and foster a trusting relationship.

Qualifications

  • Good communication skills and confidence in interacting with others.
  • Experience or interest in activities such as sports, dance, and community events.
  • Able to cook and navigate a kitchen independently.
  • Patient, sensible, mature, and able to provide reassurance and guidance.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to use a car for work-related activities.

Job Details

  • Hours: 5 hours per week, to be used flexibly.
  • Rate: £15.50 per hour plus £0.40 mileage when you use your car.
  • Position is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS Disclosure (Police Check) completed prior to commencement. The cost of the check will be covered by the local authority.
  • All candidates must have the legal right to work in the UK and will receive a National Insurance number.
  • The role is part-time, with wages paid monthly and holiday pay provided.
