We are recruiting for both current needs and future vacancies at HMP Risley. The special futures scheme guarantees a permanent role at HMP Risley once you have completed the initial 23 months at HMP Onley.

Requirements

  • Minimum 18 years of age at commencement of employment.
  • Meet Civil Service nationality requirements.
  • Pass medical and fitness assessment.

  • Meet suitable hearing standard for safety.
  • Tattoos may be permitted if not offensive, discriminatory, violent or intimidating; facial tattoos are generally not acceptable unless for cultural, religious or medical reasons.

Pay and Working Hours

  • Starting salary: £33,746 at HMP Onley. After the initial 23‑month period, pay will adjust to match the salary at the prison where you transfer.
  • Initial training: 37 hours a week. Post‑training, you may work 37, 39 or 41 hours a week, with salary reflecting weekly hours.
