Responsibilities
- Conduct assessment of individuals on probation before and after sentence
- Implement sentences and manage offenders in the community
- Produce reports and provide case management support
- Utilise service procedures and practice directions to underpin professional judgement
Requirements
- Empathetic, patient, and organized personal attributes
- Right to work in the UK and within the Civil Service, as required by UK immigration rules
- Must be able to maintain the legal right to live and work in the UK throughout the employment period
Salary and Pay
Starting salary will be £26,475 pro‑rata for part‑time roles. The Probation Service offers annual pay progression through a Competency‑Based Framework (CBF). New entrants are expected to start on the minimum of the pay band. Pay band ranges are increased annually in line with Civil Service Pay guidance.
Skilled Worker Visa Restrictions (effective 22 July 2025)
This role is not eligible for a new Skilled Worker visa. If you have held a Skilled Worker visa continuously before 22 July 2025, you must raise this during the pre‑employment checks. If you have not held such a visa prior to that date, you will need to consider your options for maintaining your right to work.

Successful applicants may be based at a wide variety of office, court, team or prison locations within the Probation Service region. Allocations are made according to business need.
