Your new company Desian Education are proud to be working in partnership with a mainstream school in St Helens that is held in high regard by its local community as they are looking to appoint a reliable and enthusiastic teaching assistant to a full-time temporary long-term contract due to additional funding being secured. This contract will last the remainder of the academic year and if funding is secured for the new academic year a permanent contract will be considered.
Your new role As a teaching assistant you will be supporting a pupil within a year 3 class on a 1:1 basis, acting as their main point of contact throughout the day and regularly liaising with their grown up on their progress. The pupil you will be supporting has SEMH due to extensive previous trauma, they are extremely loving but due to early life they are struggling to integrate and regulate their emotions, in turn they become extremely upset and have a habit of absconding. You will implement trauma‑informed approaches and positive consequence practices to promote engagement and emotion regulation, as well as:
- Support a pupil in year 3 on a 1:1 basis and act as their main point of contact throughout the day
- Provide ELSA support
- Collaborate with external professionals such as social services, local authority and educational psychologists
- Implement positive behaviour strategies
- Deliver interventions and boosters in core subjects
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Full “Right to Work” in the UK (and a valid passport or immigration status)
- Experience with emotional literacy support
- Relevant referenceable classroom experience (including SEMH experience is highly advantageous)
- An enhanced Children’s DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
- Commit to a full‑time contract of 32.5 hours per week
