About the role
Reporting to the Registered Manager, you will oversee the day-to-day care and support delivered on site. You'll lead and guide our care and support staff so every resident is treated with sensitivity and respect, and their privacy, choice, independence and rights are protected. You'll also cover at other schemes when Senior Support Workers are away.
This is a hands-on leadership role. Our approach centres on outcomes and reablement: helping residents set goals, build confidence and do more for themselves.
What you'll be doing

Supervising care and support staff and building strong working relationships with colleagues and residents

Helping manage the weekly staff rota so there are always enough staff on site to meet residents' needs

Taking part in needs assessments, risk assessments and support planning, focusing on each person's needs, goals and aspirations

Delivering, monitoring and measuring outcome-based reabling care and support

Embedding a reabling, outcome-focused ethos across the scheme

Carrying out spot checks, staff reviews, supervisions and PDRs

Auditing care records, including MAR charts, log sheets and quality review records

Taking part in the service's on-call rota

Working with housing, health and social care professionals, as well as benefits, welfare and advocacy agencies

Supporting managers with housing-related support, such as welfare benefits advice, signposting and promoting health and independence

Supporting a thriving residents' committee that helps organise activities and events

Keeping the living environment as safe as possible while respecting residents' choices, and helping protect them from abuse

Reporting any changes in a resident's condition or circumstances to the Extra Care Manager or Assistant Manager

Supporting the office with recruitment, inductions, literacy assessments and interviews
What we're looking for

Supervisory experience in domiciliary care or a residential setting, or relevant skills and qualifications

Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships

Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to plan, allocate and review the team's workload

Experience of financial management

A sound understanding of good care principles, including assessment, care planning and risk assessment

Knowledge of the legislation and regulations relevant to care, including health and safety and contract compliance

Ability to organise induction and ongoing training for staff

Good negotiation skills

Calm, patient and even-tempered, with the ability to handle pressure and change

Warmth and empathy, and a genuine commitment to the people we support

Confident working as part of a team and on your own
