The predicted salary is between 13 - 16 Β£ per hour.

Care Support are looking for Awake Night Carers. This role will be based around East London, Hackney/Islington and will consist of 12 hour shifts.

Responsibilities and Key Activities:

  • Supervise the provision of care and support provided on site at an Extra Care Scheme, ensuring that care/support staff undertake their duties with the sensitivity required to provide services in a way which will preserve the dignity, privacy, choice, independence, fulfilment and rights of Service Users and their carer/family members.
  • Maintain good communication and develop effective working relationships with all staff and customers on site at the Extra Care Scheme.
  • Liaise with other housing, health and social care professionals, benefits, welfare and advocacy agencies involved in the care and support of customers at the Extra Care Scheme as necessary or as directed.
  • Adhere to all of the Care Support policies and procedures.
  • Alert Extra Care Manager or Assistant Manager of any changes in the Service User's condition or circumstances.
  • Help manage the staff rota on a weekly basis, ensuring that sufficient staff are on site to fulfil the needs of all of our customers.
  • Partake in Needs Assessments, Risk assessments and Support Planning, identifying customers' needs, goals and aspirations.
  • Participate in the delivery of the On Call rota of the service.
  • Deliver effective, outcome-based reabling care and support where required.
  • Monitor and measure the progress of attaining outcomes and reabling goals with our customers.
  • Partake in regular risk assessments, spot checks, staff reviews and PDRs.
  • Ensure the implementation of an outcome focused, reabling ethos throughout the Extra Care scheme and that this is actualised in the day to day provision of care and support services.
  • Support the Extra Care Manager and Assistant Managers in the provision of Housing Related Support tasks, such as advising on welfare benefits, signposting, health maintenance and independence promotion.
  • Support fully a thriving customer/residents committee at the Extra Care Scheme as this will form the basis from which many activities and events will be organised.
  • Ensure a safe as possible living environment for Service Users whilst respecting Service User's choice and rights.
  • Contribute to the protection of service users from abuse.
  • Ensure the Service User is not put at risk as a result of Care/Support activities.
  • Work as part of a team and equally be able to work alone.
  • Attend supervision, training and staff meetings, as required.
  • Be available and willing to undertake any other tasks specified by line management relevant to the role and to the needs of the Service Users.
  • Willingness to help office staff in relation to recruitment, e.g., literacy assessments, interviewing, etc.
  • Audit Care support documentation in relation to Mar Charts, Log Sheets, Review quality records, etc.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrate good planning and organisational skills.
  • Have experience of financial management.
  • Possess a sound understanding of good care principles.
  • Show skills in assessment and care planning.
  • Ability to cope with pressure, be even tempered and patient.
  • Ability to cope with change and display empathy and warmth.

  • Develop and maintain good assessment and review procedures within a reabling framework which become the foundation for appropriate care and support plans for all customers living within the Extra Care Scheme.
  • Ensure that appropriate kinds of reabling interventions take place to meet the user's needs and requirements.
  • Liaise with other agencies involved with the Extra Care Scheme residents to ensure the provision of integrated services.
  • Have a good working knowledge of Health and Safety.
