About the Role – What Your Shift Will Look Like
As a Care Assistant, no two days are the same. You’ll be supporting people in their own homes across Chesterfield and surrounding areas, helping them stay safe, independent, and comfortable in a place they love. This is a community‑based, face‑to‑face role, where you will travel between visits and build real relationships with the individuals you support.
During a typical shift, you may:
- Support individuals with personal care, such as washing, dressing, and medication prompts
- Help prepare meals or drinks and ensure nutrition and hydration needs are met
- Carry out light household tasks such as tidying, laundry, and maintaining a safe environment
- Support with mobility and transfers, helping people move safely around their home
- Carry out welfare checks and monitor wellbeing, reporting any concerns to the office team
- Assist with shopping or collecting prescriptions
- Provide companionship, conversation, and emotional reassurance – often the most valued part of the role
You will typically visit a number of service users during each shift, with time allocated for each call. Our team ensures you are supported throughout your shift, with office staff available when you need guidance or advice.
Training & Support
Even if you’ve never worked in care before, you’ll be fully supported. We provide:
