Overview
As a Financial Controller in Finance, you might get the chance to work on:
- Leading the preparation and submission of CQC’s Annual Report and Accounts, including working with auditors and supporting the process of laying accounts before Parliament.
- Improving how CQC manages and reports on different funding streams, helping the organisation meet public finance rules and strengthen long-term financial planning.
Responsibilities
- Strengthen financial control: Maintain and improve financial processes, systems and policies to ensure compliance with standards, audits and public finance rules.
- Lead financial accounting services: Oversee core accounting functions such as statutory reporting, treasury activity, income forecasting and balance sheet management.
- Support people and performance: Lead and develop a high-performing finance team, setting clear goals, supporting learning, and ensuring delivery against agreed plans.

Qualifications
- Professional accounting expertise: Experience working as a qualified accountant, with responsibility for statutory accounts and financial control in a complex organisation.
- Leading finance operations: Experience managing end-to-end financial accounting activities, using finance systems to deliver accurate reporting and meet deadlines.
- Working with others: Experience working with senior leaders, auditors or external partners to explain financial information and agree actions or improvements.
