Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the multidisciplinary team to provide safe, responsive, and high‑quality care to service users.
  • Provide direct clinical assessment, formulation, and psychiatric interventions.
  • Manage a caseload centred around residents of five residential homes (5–6 residents each; total ≤30 service users).
  • Offer psychiatric consultation and advice to clinical and residential teams.
  • Lead multidisciplinary reviews and CPA meetings for each service user.
  • Review and manage eating disorder physical health observations in line with MEED guidance.
  • Liaise with external professionals regarding risks and complex presentations.
  • Document notes from consultations and MDT discussions accurately and contemporaneously.
  • Provide prescriptions and GP letters in a timely manner.
  • Maintain an overview of medication management plans, GP letters, MHA, and mental capacity assessments.
  • Coordinate with external physical health services (GPs, AED departments, secondary care).
  • Undertake Mental Health Act recommendations where required (Section 12(2) status).
  • Participate in audit and service development activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with the organization’s Equal Opportunities Policy.
  • Ensure completion of statutory and mandatory training.
  • Key qualifications and experience
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Medical Practitioner with GMC Full Registration.
  • Experience managing complex mental health presentations in community or inpatient settings.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and organisational abilities.
  • Leadership skills and ability to work collaboratively as part of an MDT.
  • Ability to manage clinical complexity and uncertainty under supervision of a Consultant Psychiatrist.
  • Experience with Complex Emotional Needs and complex trauma presentations.
  • Experience with eating disorders, in either an inpatient or community setting.
  • Knowledge or training in systemic models, attachment disorders, and neurodevelopmental assessments.
  • Completed Core Psychiatry or GP Training with satisfactory ARCP.
  • Membership of Royal College of Psychiatrists or General Practitioners.
  • Approval under Section 12 MHA 1983/current Approved Clinician Status.
