The role of a floating support worker is to work across the Care in Mind portfolio of services covering Bury, Bolton and Preston, Lancashire. You will support young people aged 16 to 30 with complex mental health needs, promote independence, and ensure safe, therapeutic environments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct and indirect care to young people with complex mental health needs.
  • Promote independence through support with education, household tasks and general life skills.
  • Update online care records and complete medication administration.
  • Maintain the general upkeep and tidiness of the home.
  • Work shifts, including weekends and bank holidays.
  • Attend regular training sessions held on weekdays.
  • Interact with multidisciplinary teams and support continuity of care.
  • Remain calm and supportive during emergencies and difficult situations.

Required Qualifications

  • Flexibility to work shifts including weekends and bank holidays.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a car.
  • Good written skills and ability to produce basic reports and maintain accurate records.
  • Basic IT skills – completing forms, using an online care system, writing emails.
  • Good verbal communication skills and ability to listen to others.
  • Ability to maintain a professional working boundary.
  • Ability to remain calm in emergencies, supporting others during difficult situations.

Desirable Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 qualification or equivalent in Care.
  • Previous experience working with young people who have mental health needs.
