About the Role
As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with pupils who require additional emotional, social, and behavioural support. You'll provide tailored 1:1 and small group interventions, helping students build confidence, develop coping strategies, and engage positively in school life. This part-time role offers an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience while making a lasting impact on the lives of young people.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEMH needs
- Build positive, trusting, and professional relationships with students
- Support pupils with emotional regulation and behaviour management strategies
- Encourage confidence, resilience, and independence
- Promote engagement in learning and school activities
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
- Assist in implementing individual support and behaviour plans
- Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment
- Uphold safeguarding and school policies at all times
What We're Looking For
- Experience working with children, young people, or vulnerable individuals is desirable
- Understanding of SEMH needs or behaviour support strategies
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- A calm, patient, empathetic, and resilient approach
- Ability to motivate and encourage young people
- Flexible, reliable, and committed to supporting student wellbeing
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one
