Part-Time Chef – Residential Care Home

Location: Hayling Island
Salary: £14.76 per hour
Hours: 24 or 36 hours per week
Shift Pattern: Friday to Sunday – flexible shift patterns available to suit either contract

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Part-Time Chef to join a reputable residential care home in Hayling Island, preparing fresh, nutritious and well-balanced meals for approximately 40 elderly residents.

This is an excellent opportunity for a chef who enjoys creating traditional, home-style cuisine and takes pride in providing meals that are both nutritious and tailored to individual dietary requirements.

The Role

You will be responsible for planning and preparing daily meals while ensuring residents receive a varied, balanced and enjoyable dining experience.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Preparing nutritious, well-balanced meals for approximately 40 residents.
  • Creating menus that include traditional and familiar dishes.
  • Catering for a range of dietary requirements, allergies and individual preferences.
  • Ensuring meals are presented to a high standard.
  • Managing food stock, ordering and budgeting effectively.
  • Maintaining excellent food hygiene and kitchen cleanliness standards.
  • Following all relevant food safety, hygiene and health & safety procedures.
  • Working closely with care staff to understand residents' dietary needs.
  • Minimising food waste while maintaining quality and variety.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous experience as a Chef, ideally within a residential care, nursing home or similar environment.
  • Good knowledge of traditional British/home-style cuisine.
  • Experience catering for specific dietary requirements and allergies.
  • Strong understanding of Food Hygiene and food safety regulations.
  • Experience with menu planning, stock control and budgeting.
  • A genuine passion for preparing quality, nutritious meals.
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to work independently.
  • A caring and considerate approach to working with elderly residents.
