A specialist SEMH school is seeking a resilient and dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their team immediately. This role involves supporting pupils aged 11–16 who present with social, emotional and mental health needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support
  • Supporting pupils with emotional regulation
  • Assisting teachers with lesson delivery
  • Managing challenging behaviours using positive behaviour strategies
  • Recording observations and progress updates
  • Supporting pupils during break and lunch periods

Working Hours:

  • Monday: 8:30am – 4:30pm
  • Tuesday: 8:30am – 4:00pm
  • Wednesday: 8:30am – 4:00pm
  • Thursday: 8:30am – 4:15pm (staff meeting)
  • Friday: 8:30am – 3:30pm

Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children or young people
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships
  • Full-time availability
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service OR willingness to apply and pay for a new DBS
  • Two professional references

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
