Make a Real Difference in Children's Lives

We are recruiting for an experienced and committed Registered Manager to lead a 2-bed EBD children's residential home in Southampton, supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties. You'll be joining a reputable and established children's services provider with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality care, safeguarding and positive outcomes for young people. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Deputy Manager or Registered Manager looking to take the next step in their career and play a key role in developing and maintaining a nurturing, safe and well-run home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Take overall responsibility for the day-to-day management and operation of the children's home.
  • Ensure the home provides a safe, nurturing and supportive environment for children and young people.
  • Lead, motivate and develop a team of residential childcare staff.
  • Ensure care is delivered in line with individual care plans, risk assessments and support strategies.
  • Promote positive relationships and support children to achieve their personal, educational and developmental goals.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Ensure the home operates in accordance with Ofsted regulations, the Children's Homes Regulations and relevant Quality Standards.
  • Maintain accurate and compliant records, documentation and care plans.
  • Work closely with social workers, education professionals, health professionals, families and other agencies.
  • Manage staff rotas, supervision, training and performance.
  • Monitor and maintain high standards of care, ensuring any concerns or incidents are appropriately addressed.
  • Prepare for and support Ofsted inspections and monitoring visits.
  • Ensure the home remains compliant with internal policies, procedures and regulatory requirements.
  • Support the recruitment, induction and ongoing development of the staff team.
  • Take responsibility for managing incidents, complaints and safeguarding concerns in line with company procedures.
  • Contribute to the continued development and improvement of the home.

About You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Previous experience working within children's residential care.
  • Experience as a Registered Manager, Deputy Manager or experienced Senior/Team Leader within a children's home.
  • NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Children's Residential Care, or actively working towards it.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Ofsted regulations and children's residential care standards.
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
  • Experience supporting children and young people with EBD/emotional and behavioural difficulties.
  • Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to lead by example and build a positive, stable staff team.
  • A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children and young people.
