We’re recruiting on behalf of a small, friendly residential care home in beautiful Swanage, specialising in dementia and mental health support. This is a home with a real family feel, where residents are known as individuals and staff are supported, listened to, and appreciated.

The Senior Care Assistant Role

As a Senior Care Assistant, you’ll play a key part in leading shifts and ensuring residents receive outstanding, person-centred care. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting residents with personal care and daily living
  • Administering or supporting with medication (where trained)
  • Leading shifts and guiding Care Assistants on duty
  • Promoting independence, dignity, and choice at all times
  • Providing specialist support to residents living with dementia and mental health needs
  • Keeping clear, accurate care records
  • Communicating effectively with families and healthcare professionals

What We’re Looking For in a Senior Care Assistant

We’d love to hear from you if you:

  • Have previous experience as a Senior Care Assistant (or strong experience ready for the step up)
  • Have experience working with dementia and/or mental health
  • Hold (or are working towards) an NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health & Social Care
  • Are confident leading a shift and supporting other staff
  • Are compassionate, patient, and reliable
  • Can be flexible, including occasional night shifts when required

Senior Care Assistant Hours & Shifts

36 hours per week. A mixture of 4 to 12-hour shifts. Flexibility required for occasional nights.
