This is far more than a classroom support role. You'll become a trusted adult, helping young people build confidence, regulate emotions and develop the skills they need to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.

What you'll be doing:

  • Creating safe and supportive relationships with pupils.
  • Using trauma-informed strategies to encourage emotional regulation and positive engagement.
  • Supporting learners on a one-to-one basis and within small groups.
  • Promoting independence, confidence and self-esteem.
  • Working collaboratively with teachers and wider professionals to provide a consistent approach.

Who would thrive in this role?

You may already have experience in:

  • Children's residential care.
  • Family support or outreach work.
  • Youth work or mentoring.
  • Alternative provision settings.
  • SEN or therapeutic environments.
  • Pastoral support roles.

Most importantly, we're looking for someone who is patient, empathetic and able to remain calm in challenging situations. Please note: This role includes elements of personal care and requires strong behaviour management skills. Candidates must be confident using de-escalation techniques and supporting pupils who may display challenging behaviours.
