I'm pleased to be supporting a growing, values-led business with the appointment of an experienced Financial Controller to join its leadership team. This is a slightly different Financial Controller opportunity, offering 27.5 hours per week and genuine flexibility, while still providing full ownership of the finance function and direct exposure to senior leadership, the Board and shareholders. It's a role that would suit someone who enjoys combining strategic financial leadership with a hands-on approach, taking responsibility for everything from business planning and budgeting through to treasury, statutory compliance, financial reporting and systems development.
The Role
- Leading and developing the Finance Team
- Owning the annual budgeting and business planning process
- Preparing monthly management accounts, forecasts and Board reports
- Providing financial insight and challenge to senior leadership
- Managing cash flow, treasury and funding arrangements
- Overseeing statutory accounts, audit and tax compliance
- Maintaining robust financial controls and governance
- Managing banking relationships and development finance requirements
- Supporting strategic and operational decision-making through financial analysis
- Leading the final stages of a Sage 50 to Sage Intacct system migration
- Working closely with the Managing Director, Board and shareholders
About You
You'll be a qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA accountant with proven experience at Financial Controller or senior finance management level. We're looking for someone who is commercially astute, highly organised and confident presenting financial information to senior stakeholders. You'll need experience managing and developing a finance team, alongside a strong technical understanding of statutory accounts, audit, VAT and corporation tax. Experience within property, development, construction or housebuilding would be advantageous, as would experience with Sage 50/Sage Intacct and finance system implementations.
