Are you an experienced care leader who is passionate about delivering outstanding support and empowering people to live fulfilling, independent lives? We are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Support Manager to lead a supported living service in Market Weighton, East Yorkshire, supporting 12 adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, and physical disabilities. This is an exciting opportunity to join a values-led organisation that places the people it supports at the heart of everything it does. Due to growth and internal requirements, there are opportunities to appoint up to two Support Managers within the location.
As Support Manager, you will provide operational leadership, ensuring high-quality, person-centred support is consistently delivered while developing and inspiring your team to achieve excellent outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership & Service Delivery
- Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of the supported living service.
- Ensure people receive safe, effective, and person-centred support tailored to their individual needs and goals.
- Promote independence, choice, dignity, and inclusion for the people supported.
- Maintain a visible leadership presence within the service and provide hands-on support where required.
- Foster a positive culture focused on quality, wellbeing, and continuous improvement.
- Team Management
- Lead, motivate, and develop Support Workers and Team Leaders.
- Manage recruitment, induction, training, supervision, and performance management processes.
- Conduct regular one-to-ones, team meetings, coaching sessions, and practice observations.
- Ensure staffing levels and rotas are effectively managed to meet service needs.
- Create an inclusive and supportive working environment that encourages development and retention.
- Quality, Compliance & Safeguarding
- Ensure compliance with CQC regulations, safeguarding procedures, health and safety legislation, and organisational policies.
- Oversee support plans, risk assessments, behaviour support documentation, and health plans.
- Monitor incidents, accidents, safeguarding concerns, and complaints, ensuring appropriate action is taken.
- Drive continuous improvement through audits, quality reviews, and action planning.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with families, social workers, health professionals, commissioners, and other stakeholders.
- Financial & Operational Management
- Manage service budgets responsibly and efficiently.
- Monitor expenditure, staffing costs, and resource utilisation.
- Contribute to occupancy, quality, and performance targets.
- Ensure services operate in line with contractual and organisational expectations.
About You
We’re looking for a confident and compassionate Support Manager who combines strong operational leadership with a genuine passion for supporting people with complex needs. You will have:
- Experience managing services within health and social care.
- A strong understanding of learning disabilities, autism, mental health needs, and person-centred support.
- Previous experience leading and developing frontline care teams.
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding, Mental Capacity Act, DoLS, and CQC regulations.
- Experience managing incidents, risk, quality assurance, and compliance processes.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft 365 and electronic care management systems.
- A positive, resilient, and solutions-focused approach to leadership.
Desirable
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health & Social Care (or willingness to work towards).
- Experience as a Registered Manager, Service Manager, or Support Manager.
- Experience supporting individuals with complex needs, behaviours of concern, or mental health requirements.
- Financial and budget management experience.
