An established infrastructure and utilities organisation is seeking an experienced
SHEQ Advisor to join its Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality team.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to support the delivery of high standards of SHEQ performance across a portfolio of engineering and infrastructure projects.
Working closely with the regional SHEQ leadership team and operational colleagues, you will provide practical guidance, promote a positive safety culture, and help ensure compliance with statutory and organisational requirements.
Permanent or contract (inside ir35). Travel to sites is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day SHEQ advice and support to operational and project teams.
- Promote a proactive approach to health, safety, environmental, and quality performance across multiple sites.
- Monitor corrective and preventive actions, ensuring effective implementation and continuous improvement.
- Plan, coordinate, and participate in internal audits, inspections, and assurance activities.
- Support and, where required, lead incident and accident investigations, identifying root causes and recommending improvements.
- Work collaboratively with project teams to understand operational challenges and embed SHEQ best practice throughout project delivery.
- Build strong working relationships with clients and stakeholders to encourage collaborative SHEQ initiatives.
- Analyse SHEQ performance data, identify trends, and produce reports to support informed decision-making.
- Support the maintenance and continual improvement of certified management systems.
- Identify opportunities to improve sustainability, compliance, and overall business performance.
About You
You will have previous experience in a SHEQ, HSE, or Health & Safety advisory role within engineering, construction, utilities, infrastructure, or a similar operational environment.
You should be able to demonstrate
- Good working knowledge of UK health and safety legislation, including CDM Regulations and HSE guidance.
- Experience working with integrated SHEQ management systems and recognised ISO standards (such as ISO 45001).
- Experience carrying out audits, inspections, and supporting compliance activities.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret performance data and identify trends.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A collaborative approach with the confidence to influence and support operational teams.
- High levels of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- The ability to coach, support, and positively influence others to improve SHEQ performance.
