The award‑winning home, based in Three Legged Cross, provides person‑centred care for 71 residents. We specialise in Residential, Dementia & Respite care. Are you driven by the desire to provide exceptional care and enrich the lives of our older generation residents? We’re looking for a dynamic and compassionate Clinical Deputy Manager to join our team. If you’re someone who leads by example, upholds the highest standards, and is passionate about ensuring our residents lead fulfilled and happy lives, this is your opportunity to shine.
The Role
Oakdene Care Home is preparing for its next phase of development, reopening closed units and transitioning toward a nursing‑led model of care. To support this journey, we are seeking a Nurse Qualified Deputy Manager who can provide strong clinical leadership, stability and hands‑on support as the home rebuilds and grows. This is a key appointment. You will work in close partnership with the Home Manager, acting as their clinical lead and right‑hand support helping to strengthen governance, embed best practice and prepare the home for the introduction of nursing care. This role is ideal for a Deputy Manager or experienced Senior Nurse ready to step into a broader leadership position within a turnaround environment.
The Opportunity
As Deputy Manager, your focus will be on clinical quality, compliance and team development. You will play a central role in preparing Oakdene for its transition into nursing care, supporting safe recruitment, training and clinical systems across the home. You will lead by example on the floor supporting nurses and care teams, monitoring standards, managing risk and ensuring residents receive safe, person‑centred care every day. This is not a supernumerary‑from‑day‑one role. Oakdene needs a Deputy who is visible, credible and confident – someone who understands that improvement is built through presence, consistency and strong relationships.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Provide strong clinical leadership across the home
- Support governance, audits, care planning and risk management
- Work alongside the Home Manager to prepare for nursing unit openings
- Support recruitment, induction and ongoing development of clinical teams
- Ensure safe medication management and clinical oversight
- Lead on quality improvement plans and inspection readiness
- Act as the senior clinical presence in the Home Manager’s absence
- Build confidence, capability and accountability within the team
About You
You are a Registered Nurse (RGN/RMN) with experience working within care home or complex care environments. You are confident clinically and calm under pressure, with a good understanding of governance, safeguarding and regulatory expectations. You may already be working as a Deputy Manager, Clinical Lead, or Senior Nurse ready to take the next step. You are practical, organised and solutions‑focused – someone who doesn’t panic when a service is rebuilding but instead brings structure, reassurance and clear direction. Most importantly, you care deeply about standards and people. You lead with professionalism, warmth and consistency, and you take pride in doing things properly.
What Oakdene Needs Right Now
- Reliable and consistent
- Comfortable in change and development
- Willing to roll their sleeves up
- Committed to long‑term improvement
- Motivated by building something meaningful
If you want an easy role, this won’t be it. If you want to make a real difference this absolutely could be.
