Vane Hill Care Home is a specialist service in Torquay, set across two Victorian houses overlooking Torbay. The home provides structured, enablement focused support for adults living with mental health conditions, including Korsakoff’s syndrome and Alcohol-Related Brain Damage, promoting independence, stability and wellbeing.
Contract: £13.22 per hour, Contracted to 0 hours per week, Flexible bank contract. Paid [PVG/DBS], pension, uniform provided. 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract). No late evenings or split shifts, offering a consistent working pattern and genuine work life balance, alongside ongoing training and development opportunities.
Role Overview: As a Chef, you will deliver high quality, nutritious and enjoyable meals within a specialist complex care setting, supporting individuals with a range of complex physical and mental health needs. Your role plays an important part in daily life, providing comfort, routine and enjoyment while supporting overall wellbeing. You will take ownership of food preparation and service, ensuring meals are tailored to individual dietary needs, preferences and nutritional requirements, including modified diets where required. Maintaining high standards of presentation, hygiene and food safety, you will consistently deliver meals that meet both nutritional and clinical needs. Working as part of a supportive team, you will contribute to menu planning, kitchen organisation and smooth day to day service, ensuring a safe, efficient and well organised kitchen environment at all times.
What We Are Looking For:
- City & Guilds 706/1 and 706/2 or equivalent, or working towards
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
- Experience in a professional kitchen environment
- Understanding of dietary requirements, including modified or specialist diets, is beneficial
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A positive and reliable approach
