Cedar Lodge Care Home is a well established service in Taunton, Somerset, providing specialist dementia, palliative and respite care for up to 39 residents, alongside The Limes, a dedicated mental health community supporting a further 15 individuals. Set in a peaceful location, the home offers a welcoming, supportive environment with a strong focus on personalised care, dignity and wellbeing across both services.

Senior Care Assistant Contract

  • £13.71 per hour
  • Contracted to 36 hours per week
  • Paid DBS, pension, uniform provided
  • 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full time contract)

Role Overview

As a Senior Care Assistant, you will support the delivery of high quality, person centred care for individuals with complex needs, including advanced dementia, mental health conditions and other long term health challenges. You will take responsibility for the smooth running of your shift, ensuring care is well organised, consistent and delivered safely within a structured and supportive environment. Alongside providing hands on care, you will oversee medication, monitor residents' physical and emotional wellbeing and respond appropriately to changes, including behaviours or complex needs. Working closely with the wider team, you will support and guide Care Assistants, helping to maintain a calm, stable and consistent environment. You will follow and review care plans, ensure accurate record keeping and contribute to effective communication with colleagues, families and healthcare professionals. This role requires a confident, calm and resilient approach, with the ability to support both residents and staff in a complex care setting.

What We Are Looking For

  • Level 2 in Health & Social Care (minimum), with Level 3 desirable or willingness to work towards
  • Medication administration training with competency
  • Experience supporting or leading a care team within a care environment
  • Confidence supporting individuals with complex needs, including mental health or behavioural support
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A calm, patient and professional approach
