Senior Care Assistant

Glebe House Care Home is a privately owned residence located in East Ayrshire. We provide personalised nursing and residential care for up to 46 residents in a warm, supportive environment. With a carehome.co.uk rating of 9.9 and Care Inspectorate grades of 5, 4, 5, 4 and 4, we deliver consistently high standards of compassionate, person‑centred care.

Contract & Salary

Full‑time contract – 37.5 hours per week.

Salary up to £13.60 per hour (depends on experience).

Contracted hours: Rotating shifts as required.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the care team during each shift, ensuring smooth operation and a positive atmosphere.
  • Assist residents with dressing, bathing, toileting and mobility, prioritising dignity and independence.
  • Oversee medication ordering, administration and documentation with accurate records.
  • Engage with residents, families, healthcare professionals and team members to ensure clear, compassionate communication.
  • Foster team ethos, respect diversity and promote a supportive environment.
  • Welcome visitors and show prospective residents and families around the home’s facilities.
  • Respond promptly to emergency call bells and manage situations until assistance arrives.
  • Write and update care plans, risk assessments and case notes reflecting residents’ needs and wishes.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training and e‑learning, taking responsibility for personal development.
  • Adhere to health and safety policies, COSHH, escalating concerns to management as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • SVQ/NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care or equivalent, or actively progressing toward Level 3.
  • Medication training – Practical Medication Administration competencies required.
  • Leadership skills: ability to lead, motivate, develop and delegate tasks to a team.
  • Compassionate, caring and positive personality with a sense of fun and commitment to person‑centred care.
