Bearehill Care Home is a distinctive 49-bed service located in the picturesque town of Brechin. Operating from a beautiful Georgian mansion, the home blends traditional charm with modern standards of personalised care. Currently operating at 84% occupancy with an average weekly fee of £1,228 and stable agency usage at zero hours, our service has strong operational foundations and a committed team in place. Following the internal promotion of the previous Home Manager, we are now seeking a capable and commercially astute leader to build on that platform and take the service confidently into its next phase.
Contract:
- £60,000 per annum
- Annual performance bonus up to 40% of salary (KPI-linked)
- Private Medical Insurance
- Pension scheme
- 5.6 weeks annual leave
Bearehill Care Home provides nursing, residential and dementia care within an intimate, characterful Georgian setting that residents and families genuinely value for its warmth, individuality and homely feel. Supported by a stable and compassionate core team, the home operates with zero agency reliance and benefits from a strong local reputation and established community presence. It is a service that feels personal rather than institutional, where relationships matter and familiarity creates reassurance.
The opportunity now is to build on these solid foundations: enhancing consistency, strengthening inspection outcomes and confidently driving occupancy growth through visible leadership and disciplined operational focus. As Care Home Manager, you will take full accountability for the performance, culture and reputation of Bearehill Care Home. This is a role with real influence. Your leadership will shape not only operational outcomes, but the daily experience of residents, families and colleagues alike.
Over the next 12–24 months, your focus will be clear and purposeful. You will strengthen and sustain regulatory compliance, ensuring inspection readiness is embedded in everyday practice rather than treated as an event. You will drive occupancy beyond current levels through proactive community engagement and confident local leadership, enhancing both reputation and commercial performance. At the same time, you will continue building a stable, motivated workforce; setting high expectations, developing talent and creating a culture where accountability and compassion sit side by side.
You will inherit a home with solid foundations and genuine potential. Success here will not come from dramatic change, but from disciplined governance, attention to detail and consistent, visible leadership. This opportunity will suit a leader who understands that sustainable improvement is achieved through steady momentum. Someone who can balance empathy with commercial awareness, protect quality while strengthening performance, and inspire confidence at every level of the organisation.
About You:
- You are an experienced Home Manager with a track record of leading a medium-sized nursing, dementia or mixed-care service.
- You understand how quality, compliance, occupancy and workforce stability interconnect and you can evidence success across those areas.
- Strong knowledge of Care Inspectorate or CQC standards.
- Experience preparing for and responding to inspections.
- Commercial confidence managing occupancy, budgets and fee levels.
- The ability to lead and stabilise teams through visible, consistent leadership.
- Emotional intelligence and resilience.
- A clinical qualification (RGN/RMN) is advantageous given the service profile, but equally important is your operational strength, governance discipline and ability to inspire trust.
Leadership Style & Cultural Fit:
Bearehill requires a visible and steady leader someone who is present, engaged and respected. You will balance support with accountability, set clear expectations and remain close to operational detail. You will be commercially minded without losing sight of dignity and resident experience. You understand that improving performance in a good home is about consistent leadership rather than disruptive change.
