Management - Penrose Court Care Home

Contract: Full Time

Salary: up to £85,000 per annum + up to 40% Annual Bonus + Private Medical Insurance

Shift Type: Days

Contracted hours: 40

Penrose Court Care Home is a 65-bed, high-quality private care home providing nursing, residential and dementia care across three beautifully designed floors. It is known locally for its strong relationships with families, consistent care standards, and an exceptional internal culture.

Over the past few years, Penrose Court has undergone a remarkable transformation. Under the leadership of its current Home Manager, who is now retiring, the home moved from a Requires Improvement position to achieving a Good CQC rating, rebuilding confidence, standards, and pride along the way. This was not achieved through systems alone, but through values-led leadership, trust, and empowering people to be their best.

This role is about continuity, reassurance, and leadership, not change for change’s sake. This is not a ‘fix-it’ role. It is an opportunity with real headroom. It’s to take a well-led, well-loved home and guide it towards Outstanding, but only with the right leader at the helm. Someone who leads with people, not over them.

The contract includes salary up to £85,000 per annum, up to 40% annual bonus, private medical insurance, pension scheme and 5.6 weeks annual leave.

The Opportunity

Penrose Court currently operates at around 80% occupancy, with a strong focus on self-funding residents and a clear opportunity to move closer to full occupancy through thoughtful local engagement and reputation-led growth. Agency usage is low, sitting at approximately 3.7% of total hours worked, reflecting a stable core team and strong day-to-day leadership.

As Home Manager, your role is to protect what works, build confidence through visibility and consistency, and lead the next phase of growth - commercially, culturally, and in care quality. This is a role for a present, emotionally intelligent leader. Someone who understands that results follow culture, and that people perform best when they feel trusted, valued, and inspired.

As Home Manager, you will:

  • Sustain and strengthen Good standards, with a clear and credible pathway towards Outstanding across care, governance, and leadership.
  • Lead an exceptional team, nurturing talent, developing future leaders, and maintaining the culture that makes people want to stay.
  • Be a visible and trusted presence for residents, families, professionals, and staff, offering reassurance during a period of leadership transition.
  • Balance commercial awareness with compassion, managing occupancy, budgets, and resources with confidence and integrity.
  • Lead flexibly and responsibly. This is not a 9–5 role, but it is a role where stability, consistency, and approachability matter more than firefighting.

About You

You are an experienced Home Manager who leads with credibility, warmth, and clarity. You may be nurse-qualified or non-nurse, but you are comfortable overseeing clinical standards, engaging with professionals, and holding high expectations. You are known for your leadership style, not just your management ability. People trust you. They feel heard. They work with you, not for you.

You understand that strong cultures don’t happen by accident; they are built through visibility, honesty, and consistency. You bring commercial awareness, but you also understand that care, culture, and occupancy are inseparable and that sustainable success comes from getting the fundamentals right first.
