At The Fleet Care Home, clinical leadership isn’t hidden behind an office door; it’s felt on the floor, seen in every interaction, and trusted by both residents and staff. This is a home where your voice matters. Where your clinical judgement is respected. Where you’ll work alongside an experienced Home Manager and a supportive senior team who understand that great care starts with great leadership. This is an opportunity to make a real difference to the residents of The Fleet Care Home.
Set in the welcoming coastal town of Dartmouth, our 79-bed home provides residential, nursing, dementia, respite, and palliative care in a warm and compassionate environment. Here, we believe residents deserve not just safety and clinical excellence, but dignity, comfort, and genuine human connection. As Clinical Deputy Manager, you’ll play a central role in making that happen.
A leadership role where you can truly make a difference
This is more than a clinical role; it’s an opportunity to lead, support, and shape the quality of care every single day. You’ll divide your time between hands-on nursing and protected supernumerary hours, allowing you to guide the team, strengthen clinical practice, and ensure the home continues to deliver safe, responsive, and person-centred care. You’ll be the clinical anchor of the service supporting nurses and carers, overseeing care standards, and working closely with the Home Manager to maintain compliance with the Care Quality Commission and continuously improve the service. Your presence will be visible, supportive, and reassuring to residents, families, and your team alike.
What you’ll be trusted to do
You’ll lead from the front, creating a culture where clinical excellence and kindness go hand in hand. Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting and developing the nursing team
- Overseeing care planning and clinical governance
- Ensuring the safe delivery of complex care
- Helping maintain a home that is always inspection-ready
- Deputising in the Home Manager’s absence, providing stability, confidence, and leadership
Your influence will help shape standards, strengthen practice, and support the continued success of the home. This position will require the candidate to work alternate weekends and be part of the on-call rota.
What we offer in return
We believe great leaders deserve to feel valued and supported:
- Up to £55,000 per annum
- NMC Paid
- Pension scheme
- Paid DBS
- Uniform provided
- On-site parking
- 5.6 weeks annual leave (based on a full-time contract)
- Ongoing training, development and career progression including access to the Leadership Programme
Who this role will suit
You’ll be a Registered Nurse (RGN or RMN) with experience in elderly care and a genuine passion for leading others. You’ll take pride in high clinical standards, feel confident supporting complex care needs, and enjoy mentoring and developing your team. You’ll bring calm leadership, sound clinical judgement, and a natural ability to build trust with residents, families, and colleagues. Above all, you’ll care deeply about your profession, your team, and the people you support.
