Cardstream is a market-leading fintech providing secure, scalable payment technology and infrastructure to partners across the payments ecosystem. Trusted by acquirers, ISVs, SaaS platforms, and payment providers, Cardstream enables businesses to build, scale, and operate sophisticated payment propositions with confidence.
We are looking for a proactive Software Quality Assurance Engineer to help ensure the reliability, security, and performance of Cardstream's payment platform. If you're detail-driven, curious, and passionate about delivering high-quality software in a fast-growing FinTech, we want to hear from you.
Why This Role? This is an opportunity to play a defining role in the quality of ground-breaking payment technology used at scale. As a Software Quality Assurance Engineer at Cardstream, you will help protect the reliability, security, and performance of platforms operating in a highly regulated FinTech environment. Your work will directly influence how new features are delivered, how risks are surfaced early, and how quality is designed into products from the start, not inspected in, at the end. If you care about engineering standards, clean releases, and building confidence in complex systems, this role gives you the space and authority to do exactly that.
What You'll Be Doing- Acting as the final quality checkpoint between test environments and live production systems, with a clear focus on risk, stability, and customer impact.
- Identifying issues early in the delivery lifecycle, clearly communicating risks, and proposing pragmatic mitigation strategies to keep releases on track.
- Working closely with internal teams and external partners to translate requirements into scalable, maintainable test strategies and suites.
- Participating in feature design and requirements reviews to ensure solutions are testable, observable, and robust.
- Taking ownership of end-to-end product quality, including defect lifecycle management, reporting, prioritisation, and escalation of critical issues.
- Designing, executing, and maintaining a blend of automated and manual tests, including regression testing across frequent release cycles.
- Developing and maintaining test automation frameworks to improve coverage, confidence, and delivery speed.
- Collaborating with software engineers and product managers to support root cause analysis, debugging, and continuous improvement.
- Helping define, evolve, and embed QA best practices across teams, tools, and processes.
- Proven experience in a Quality Assurance or Software Testing role within a software delivery environment.
- An understanding of JavaScript and how it applies to test automation.
- Working knowledge of Behaviour-Driven Development (BDD) and writing meaningful, readable test scenarios.
- Strong test analysis, preparation, and execution skills across the full testing lifecycle.
- Ability to break down requirements to user-story level and identifying edge cases and risk areas.
- A pragmatic, detail-driven mindset with the ability to balance quality with delivery.
- Ability to work within existing processes while constructively challenging and improving them.
- Experience in FinTech, Payments, or other regulated environments.
- Understanding of PHP or similar development language.
- Hands-on experience with test automation tools such as Cypress, Selenium, or similar frameworks.
- Awareness of PCI compliance and security-focused testing principles.
- An industry-recognised testing qualification (such as ISTQB).
- A collaborative engineering culture where quality is valued and supported.
- The opportunity to influence testing strategy and quality standards across a growing payment suite.
- Competitive salary and benefits package.
- Ongoing learning, development, and the chance to deepen your expertise in payments and FinTech.
