We are currently looking for an Electrician to join our team in Kingston Upon Thames. In this role you will be expected to carry out electrical repairs, maintenance, testing, and installation work across a portfolio of social housing properties. You will ensure that homes are safe, compliant, and meet all relevant electrical and building regulations while delivering excellent customer service to tenants.
Accountabilities/Responsibilities:
- Perform routine electrical repairs, installations, and upgrades in social housing properties
- Fault finding and diagnostics
- Wiring and rewiring works
- Consumer unit upgrades and replacements
- Electrical repairs to lighting, sockets, and switches
- Electrical installation work in kitchens, bathrooms, and extensions
- Install and maintain electrical systems including lighting, sockets, distribution boards, heating systems, and fire alarms
- Respond to tenant-reported faults efficiently and with excellent customer service
- Conduct Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) and remedial works in line with current regulations
- Carry out Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) where required
- Ensure that all works comply with BS 7671 Wiring Regulations and any other relevant legislation
- Complete all necessary certification and paperwork accurately, including EICs and Minor Works Certificates
- Maintain a safe working environment and follow all health and safety procedures and risk assessments
- Use handheld devices to receive and close down jobs, complete timesheets, and order materials
- Identify and report any safeguarding or housing condition concerns
- Work in void properties to prepare them for re-letting, ensuring full electrical compliance
Qualifications/Experience:
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS7671)
- City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395 (Inspection and Testing) β preferred
- Proven experience in domestic electrical work, ideally within social or residential housing
- Full UK driving licence
- Strong understanding of current electrical safety standards and building regulations
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
