We are currently recruiting for an Operations Manager to join our team in Cornwall and surrounding areas. As the lead for the area, you will develop, manage, and support a high‑performing team to ensure Cardo and client objectives are delivered in line with expectations. You will be responsible for building strong relationships, ensuring successful delivery, and upholding the company’s standards across all operations.
Accountabilities / Responsibilities
- Project Leadership & Coordination
- Establish clear objectives with the site team.
- Lead and organise site teams to ensure successful delivery.
- Manage programmes, including monitoring, updating, and re‑sequencing when necessary.
- Ensure effective flow and management of information to all relevant parties.
- Construction Management
- Organise daily site activities when required to achieve programme targets.
- Understand specialist subcontractor requirements, attendances, and contractual obligations.
- Develop and oversee Quality Plans, Inspection and Test Plans, and checklists to ensure compliance.
- Promote high standards of workmanship and project completion.
- Ensure compliance with contract terms.
- Commercial & Procurement
- Work with the QS to monitor financial performance, identify challenges, propose solutions, and help achieve required margins.
- Ensure timely procurement using Cardo’s approved supply chain.
- People Management & Communication
- Manage junior team members, set expectations, review performance, and support development.
- Communicate professionally with clients and third parties in Cardo’s best interests.
- Represent Cardo positively to maximise opportunities for repeat business.
- Uphold high standards of personal conduct and promote the Cardo brand.
- Hold weekly team meetings as required to track progress, identify improvements, and celebrate success.
- Project Delivery & Compliance
- Maintain records in line with Cardo procedures and best practice.
- Take full responsibility for allocated works to ensure successful completion.
- Health, Safety, and Site Standards
- Actively participate in safety initiatives and ensure safe construction practices.
- Manage health and safety in line with Cardo procedures, current guidance, and industry best practice.
- Ensure site branding, housekeeping, and presentation standards meet company guidelines.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum HNC or equivalent experience in a construction‑related field
- CSCS membership
- CITB 5‑day SMSTS
- Strong understanding of construction methods, technology, and materials, particularly in refurbishment
- Proven knowledge of health, safety, and environmental management
- Understanding of contract documentation and reporting, with the ability to protect Cardo commercially
- Fully IT‑competent
- Demonstrable career progression within engineering, trade, or construction roles
