Role Overview:
To carry out a range of roofing works, maintenance, and repairs on social housing properties, ensuring safe, high-quality workmanship that meets organisational standards and statutory compliance. The role involves working on both planned and reactive jobs to maintain tenantsβ homes in good condition, contributing to tenant satisfaction and the safety of housing stock.
Responsibilities:
- Undertake roofing repairs, maintenance, and installations on pitched and flat roofs, including tiles, slates, felt, leadwork, fascias, soffits, and guttering.
- Diagnose roofing defects and implement effective repair solutions.
- Carry out responsive repairs in occupied homes with sensitivity to tenants.
- Complete planned works on void (empty) properties to ensure homes are ready for re-letting.
- Work at height safely, using access equipment, scaffolding, and fall-arrest systems in line with health & safety regulations.
- Ensure all works are completed to a high standard and in accordance with organisation, client, and regulatory requirements.
- Record and report completed works via mobile technology (PDA/tablet).
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment and leave properties in a tenant-ready state.
- Identify and report additional works or potential hazards to supervisors.
- Provide excellent customer service to tenants, treating them and their homes with respect.
- Work flexibly as part of a repairs and maintenance team, supporting colleagues and other trades where necessary.
You Will Need:
- Proven experience as a Roofer, ideally within social housing or domestic repairs.
- Good knowledge of pitched and flat roofing systems, materials, and repair techniques.
- Understanding of health & safety requirements, including working at height and asbestos awareness.
- Ability to diagnose defects and provide cost-effective repair solutions.
- Full UK driving licence (company van usually provided).
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-trade team.
Qualifications:
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Roofing Occupations or equivalent trade qualification.
