Role Overview

Will be responsible for carrying out a wide range of plumbing works in properties within the social housing portfolio. The aim is to ensure that plumbing systems, including heating, water, and drainage, are fully operational and compliant with safety standards before new tenants move in.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct plumbing inspections and diagnostics in vacant properties to identify and rectify faults or issues
  • Repair or replace defective plumbing systems, including pipes, taps, toilets, sinks, radiators, and water heaters
  • Install new plumbing fixtures and systems where required to bring void properties up to standard
  • Ensure all plumbing systems comply with relevant safety regulations and local building codes
  • Perform routine maintenance on plumbing systems to prevent future issues
  • Liaise with other tradespeople, contractors, and housing staff to coordinate repairs and ensure properties are completed within agreed timelines
  • Complete work within agreed budgets, minimizing costs wherever possible without compromising on quality or safety
  • Maintain accurate records of works carried out and report progress to the Maintenance Supervisor
  • Adhere to health and safety procedures at all times, ensuring a safe working environment for yourself and others
  • Provide excellent customer service to tenants, staff, and contractors, ensuring communication is clear and professional.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing or equivalent qualification
  • Previous experience in plumbing within a social housing or residential setting is highly desirable
  • Good knowledge of plumbing systems, including heating, drainage, and water supply
  • Experience in working in void properties and understanding the specific challenges associated with preparing them for new tenants
  • Familiarity with relevant building regulations and health and safety standards
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail
  • Full UK driving licence
