Role Overview

The Management Accountant supports the organization’s financial planning and strategic decision-making by delivering accurate and insightful financial information.

This role is responsible for preparing management accounts, monitoring financial performance, analysing variances, managing budgets and forecasts, and providing recommendations to improve financial efficiency.

The Management Accountant works closely with operational managers and senior leadership to ensure financial data is aligned with business objectives and supports long-term growth.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual management accounts.
  • Analyse financial performance, variances, and cost drivers to provide meaningful commentary.
  • Produce financial dashboards, KPI reports, and trend analyses for management.
  • Support statutory reporting processes in collaboration with the finance team.
  • Lead the preparation of annual budgets and rolling forecasts.
  • Develop financial models to support scenario planning and business decisions.
  • Monitor budget adherence and identify areas for cost control or optimization.
  • Assess and monitor cost structures, identifying opportunities for efficiency improvements.
  • Support cost allocation processes and ensure accuracy in cost reporting.
  • Conduct margin, product, and profitability analyses as required.
  • Collaborate closely with operational departments to provide financial insights.
  • Present financial performance and recommendations to non-financial stakeholders.
  • Support business cases, project evaluations, and investment appraisals.

Key Skills & Experience

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e. g., CIMA, ACCA, CPA) preferred or in progress.
  • Proven experience in management accounting, financial analysis, or related roles.
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards and budgeting processes.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems is an advantage.
