Responsibilities
- Reporting to the SENCO and using a trauma informed approach, this is a key post which will:
- Manage SEND spaces to maximise the learning environment for our students ensuring the room is conducive to learning and promotes high expectations.
- Develop individual education plans for students and liaise with colleagues so that all staff understand the needs and strategies of these students.
- Stay up to date with latest guidance and research around inclusion and behaviour management.
- Supervise and provide support for students attending SEND spaces and where needed the Inclusion room.
- Liaise with all Heads of Department to ensure all work delivered for students is appropriate and challenging – allowing students to successfully reintegrate back to mainstream lessons.
- Work with other relevant staff to organise appropriate reintegration programmes to mainstream lessons and ensure their impact is effectively monitored and evaluated.
- Provide regular and effective liaison between the school and home for students whilst accessing the inclusion provisions.
- Work collaboratively with external agencies to develop comprehensive provision for the most vulnerable learners.
- Work with Heads of Year and Assistant Heads of Year to ensure all students within their respective year groups are supported appropriately to ensure excellent learning outcomes.
- Develop personalised programmes for targeted students in order that they fully access the curriculum and are empowered to self-manage their own regulation.
- Develop and recommend students to specific interventions that will enable them to address their barriers to learning.
- Ensure regular feedback to targeted students with refined targets and recognition of their progress.
