The Role
To provide a high-quality service and support in all aspects of estates functions, general maintenance, and operational Health & Safety to maintain high standards throughout the campus creating an outstanding and welcoming teaching and learning environment. The main duties and responsibilities of this role include:
- Site maintenance (including undertaking minor maintenance repairs, grounds maintenance and liaising with contractors.)
- Undertake keyholding and the security of all buildings
- Health and safety (including undertaking safety inspections, responding to first aid requests and assuming the responsibilities of a fire officer)
- Manual handling duties (including relocation and removal of furniture and making areas/items safe)
The Successful Candidate
Cardinal Newman College is a wonderful place to work, and this is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced candidate to join our friendly and well-established Estates department. The Estates department is looking for someone who has awareness of health and safety legislation, is self-motivated with good time management and the ability to prioritise workload, is able to undertake heavy lifting duties and can follow agreed procedures and standards. You should display the values, attitudes, and behaviours consistent with the Catholic Ethos of the College and have a commitment to equality/diversity and the safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults.
Terms and Conditions
- Hours: 37 hours per week, full year. Part-time working would be considered. Hours of work will be on a weekly rota basis in line with the shift patterns; 5.45am - 1.45pm, 8.00am - 4.00pm and 9.30am - 5.30pm with flexibility when required
- Salary: The post will be paid on the Sixth Form Colleges’ Support Staff Pay Spine at points 10 to 12 - pro rata to £27,733 to £29,544 per annum. For an outstanding candidate the college will consider a 'golden hello' payment of up to 10% of the annual salary
