As the caretaker, you will be working as part of our site team responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day operations of the school buildings, grounds and cleaning team. This is a key role in ensuring a safe, clean and efficient learning environment for pupils, staff and visitors. You will work closely with the Site and Building Supervisor, school leadership team and contractors to manage maintenance, health and safety, security, and compliance tasks.

About the role: Caretaker required with all round skills and customer focused “can do” attitude needed to join our friendly and flexible Site Team. Will also include locking up / opening up to ensure the premises are in a safe, tidy and satisfactory condition for our staff and students. Working hours vary and will include some early/late shifts. The successful applicant will provide efficient and effective caretaking support to the school, ensuring that the security and general appearance of the buildings and surrounding areas are maintained in accordance with the required standards. Minibus driving when needed - Category D1 on driving licence is a must.

Skills:

  • Proven experience in facilities or caretaking, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and compliance.
  • Flexibility to respond to urgent maintenance issues, sometimes outside of regular hours.
  • Ability to carry out minor repairs and maintenance.
  • Good communication and organisational skills.
  • IT skills for maintaining records and completing reports.
  • Ability to manage and motivate a small team.
  • Clean driving licence with part “D1”.
  • First Aid certificate or willingness to undertake training.

This post is a permanent, full‑time (37hpw), full year post.
