We are currently recruiting for an Operations Manager to join a progressive and ambitious freight forwarding team. FAR Logistics is recognised as being one of the largest and fastest growing businesses in our space and is part of a multi award winning organisation. The Operations Manager will be able to work confidently under pressure and have good decision-making skills in a fast-paced, dynamic freight transport environment. They shall also require excellent communication skills and prove they are well organised and have the ability to multitask. What we are looking for is an enthusiastic, innovative and motivated individual that is driven and determined to succeed in taking forwarding to the next level. You must be commercially aware, customer focused, needing a high attention to detail with strong leadership skills.
Responsibilities
- Sales & Operations – full Freight forwarding operations cycle from quotation, implementation, process management and main escalation for operational queries.
- Support MD with delivering commercial growth by retaining existing trading clients and assisting new business development team through quotes/tenders and projects.
- Customer Relations for “House Accounts”: Building and maintaining relationships with clients and addressing their immediate concerns and inquiries.
- Responsible for ensuring that all logistics and freight forwarding activities run smoothly at the branch level.
- Manage and motivate a team with adaptability and professionalism in periods of change.
- Identify weaknesses and make improvements to the import/export processes at the branch and ensure optimal use of resources.
- Ensure highest standards of service levels are deployed and seek alternative methods to improve service levels.
- Communicate effectively at all levels within FAR business Group, suppliers and clients.
- Be the primary person for growing a team of Operations Coordinators through effective direction of resources.
- You will get involved with the recruitment, training, motivation, development and management of all personnel to achieve total customer focus.
- Liaise directly with customers and build strong relationships based on exceeding service expectations.
- Expand on our existing supplier base by introducing new partners and developing existing relationships.
Key Skills
- Experience of European road freight operations (minimum 5 years).
- Extensive working knowledge and experience of customs procedure and documentation.
- A solid knowledge of the import and export market.
- Display strong leadership and communication skills.
- Self-motivation, commitment, and a hunger to learn and thrive in a new environment.
- Customer focused and commercially aware.
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft applications (Word, Excel etc.).
- Very good organisational skills.
