Recruitment Brief
The Centre for Trials Research (CTR) at Cardiff University invites current staff eligible for redeployment to apply for two full‑time Research Associate positions. The role is part of the Wellcome‑funded project ‘Addressing consent‑based challenges to improve inclusivity in research (ACCORD)’ led by the UKCRC‑registered Centre.
Location: Heath Park, Cardiff. Fixed‑term position from 1 March 2026 until 28 February 2034, 35 hours per week.
Salary: £41,064 – £46,049 per annum (pro‑rata, Grade 6).

Main function
To conduct research and contribute to the overall research performance of the Centre and University, leading to publication in high‑quality journals and dissemination at national and international conferences.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Research
- Conduct research within behaviour change and/or co‑production, producing measurable outputs including funding bids, publications, and supervision of postgraduate students.
- Develop research objectives and proposals, including competitive funding applications.
- Attend and present at conferences and seminars at local and national levels.
- Undertake project administration: planning, organisation, and timely reporting.
- Prepare research ethics and governance applications.
- Deliver studies, adapting to changes in workload and requirements.
- Review and synthesize existing literature.
- Participate in centre research activities and build internal and external networks to influence decisions and share research ideas.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and contribute to the qualitative methods quality management system.
Other
- Engage with industrial, commercial, public sector organisations and professional institutions regionally and nationally to raise the Centre’s profile and pursue collaborations.
- Undergo personal and professional development to enhance performance.
- Promote the Centre’s work within the wider University and external audiences.

- Postgraduate degree at PhD level in a related subject or equivalent professional experience.
- Established expertise and proven research portfolio in fields relevant to behaviour change or co‑production.
- Knowledge of governance and systems for research involving adults lacking capacity to consent.
- Proven ability to publish in national and international journals and conferences.
- Knowledge of competitive research funding and ability to develop successful applications.
- Effective and persuasive communication skills.
- Ability to supervise others and motivate team members.
- Creativity, innovation, and teamwork in work practices.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience supervising research students.
- Evidence of collaboration with industry, NHS, or social care.
