Lecturer in Diagnostic Radiography and Imaging in London

In this role, you will be supported to deliver high-quality teaching and contribute to the development of our education programmes. You will support students to develop key skills at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels and may include visits to students placed in clinical areas. The successful candidate will pursue excellence in teaching and scholarship or research. Undertake a full teaching load, including the development, delivery and evaluation of modules/programmes within the undergraduate and post qualification provision within the School. Offer support to students via the personal tutee system, supervise students' research projects and carry out administrative duties within the work area as required.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver teaching on the Diagnostic, Radiographic Imaging range of programmes at undergraduate and postgraduate level, and contribute to module development on other relevant programmes as part of a module team.
• Independently contribute to module and course development and lead modules.
• Inspire undergraduate and postgraduate students under the guidance of a mentor/module leader and develop skills in assessment methods and in providing constructive feedback to students.
• Supervise the work of students including the supervision of Undergraduate and Masters students and the co-supervision of PGRs.
• Act as a PGR progress review panel member as required.
• Supply pastoral care through both acting as a Personal Tutor and providing support and guidance to students, building and establishing trust.

Scholarship

• Contribute to scholarship in the area of work through participation in conferences, seminars and other academic and professional forums to disseminate the results of individual scholarship.
• Engage in scholarly activity through journal articles and/or outputs which advance knowledge within the area of work.
• Contribute to scholarship through interdisciplinary working with individuals and teams within, and external to, the wider university community.
• Carry out other forms of scholarship including work associated with examinations (setting and marking paper and providing constructive feedback to students), administration, participation in committee work.

Other responsibilities

• Engage effectively with industrial, commercial and public sector organisations, professional institutions, other academic institutions etc., regionally and nationally to raise awareness of the School's profile, cultivate strategically valuable alliances, and pursue opportunities for collaboration across a range of activities.
• Undergo personal and professional development that is appropriate to and which will enhance performance in the role of Lecturer.
• Mentor colleagues with less experience and advise on personal development.
• Participate in School administration and activities to promote the School and its work to the wider University and the outside world.
• Perform other duties not included above, but consistent with the role.

We are looking for someone with a passion for student-focused, innovative teaching. You should be well-organised, collaborative, and demonstrate leadership qualities. Applicants should hold a postgraduate degree at PhD level in a related subject or possess relevant clinical expertise. Current registration with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) is essential. An enhanced criminal records declaration will be required.

Qualifications

• Postgraduate degree at PhD level in a related subject area OR relevant industrial experience and a registrable qualification in Diagnostic Radiography and Imaging.
• Current registration with the Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC).
• Teaching experience at undergraduate/postgraduate level (may include practice education) - Significant experience at Grade 7.
• Demonstrate specialist knowledge and an understanding of current advancements, disseminating this within occupational therapy.
• Ability to design, deliver and continuously develop modules across the School's teaching programmes or provide evidence of undertaking similar skills in practice.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex and conceptual ideas clearly and confidently to others using high level skills and a range of media.
• The ability to provide appropriate pastoral support to students, appreciate the needs of individual students and their circumstances and to act as a personal tutor.
• Ability to act as module leader and co-ordinate with others to ensure student needs and expectations are met.
• Proven ability to demonstrate creativity, innovation and teamworking within work.

£41,064 - £46,049 per annum (Grade 6) or £51,753 - £56,535 per annum (Grade 7) – Appointments to roles at Cardiff University are usually made at bottom of scale unless in exceptional circumstances.
