An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a full‑time Cyber Security AI Engineer as part of the Cyber Innovation Hub (CIH), a Welsh Government and Cardiff Capital Region (CCR) funded programme that is making the Cardiff Capital Region a centre of cyber businesses. CIH advances the region by increasing cyber‑security‑based start‑ups, offering a skills programme targeted at professional development, and providing representative cyber security and AI testbeds.
Working as part of a team, the Cyber Security AI Engineer will design, implement and maintain secure systems and AI testbed environments, support the development and validation of innovative security solutions, and contribute technical expertise to CIH projects. The role will involve assessing and mitigating cyber risks, conducting security testing, and ensuring that CIH infrastructure and collaborative projects adhere to best‑practice security standards.
Responsibilities- Design, implement and maintain secure system architectures and AI testbed environments.
- Support the development and validation of innovative security solutions.
- Contribute technical expertise to CIH projects and initiatives.
- Assess, mitigate and document cyber‑risk threats and vulnerabilities.
- Conduct security testing and ensure compliance with best‑practice security standards.
- Support the existing IT/OT engineering team in maintaining resilient infrastructure across operational and enterprise environments.
- Monitor threats, respond to incidents and help strengthen the organisation’s security posture.
Working Hours and Duration: This position is full‑time (35 hours per week) and is a fixed‑term contract until 31 July 2027. It is available immediately.
Blended Working Arrangement: Eligible to be offered on a blended working basis: in‑office work at SPARK/ABACUS and flexible work from another location such as home, subject to approval after appointment.
Salary: £33,951 per annum (Grade 5), with 3 annual increments up to £36,636 per annum at the top of the scale.
