Cardiff University Kazakhstan (CU Kazakhstan) is the first overseas campus of Cardiff University. This marks an exciting and significant step in Cardiff University’s continued global development and commitment to delivering world-class education to students across Central Asia. As the only member of the elite Russell Group of UK research universities with a campus in Kazakhstan, Cardiff University is bringing over 140 years of academic excellence, cutting-edge research, and impactful social change to its new Astana campus. Students will benefit from Cardiff’s renowned faculty and research expertise, preparing them for emerging fields and global careers.The University is developing the Astana campus in partnership with the Public Foundation Qualified Centre of Education (QCEF). CU Kazakhstan will play a key role in supporting the government’s commitment to expanding diverse educational opportunities, offering both local and international students access to world-class education.The Provost will provide strategic leadership and direction for the educational and academic functions of CU Kazakhstan. This role oversees all elements of academic activity in Kazakhstan, including research and innovation, academic standards, curriculum development, quality assurance, pedagogy, teaching and learning, and enhancing the student experience.Applications are invited from suitably qualified staff from as wide and diverse a representation as possible. Functionally reporting to the President and Vice-Chancellor Prof Wendy Larner, the successful candidate will have an outstanding academic and/or senior professional management record and will possess exceptional leadership capabilities alongside a track record of successful strategic delivery. They will have the personal authority, presence and expertise to oversee the delivery of excellent education and student experience and represent the University and effectively further its interests.The roleThe role is full time, open-ended and available as soon as is practicable. The post is based in Astana, Kazakhstan, with occasional travel to the UK required. The postholder will be employed by Cardiff University Kazakhstan.
