Head of Digital Portfolio

Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd is seeking a senior leader to drive the university’s digital transformation strategy and portfolio.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the portfolio of digital transformation programmes and projects, ensuring alignment with agreed priorities and strategic outcomes.
• Advise on portfolio strategy, including benefits, risks, problems, forecasts and dependencies.
• Work with senior leaders to promote digital portfolio governance and provide clear, timely information for decision‑making.
• Develop and maintain a performance and benefits framework for the portfolio.
• Collaborate closely with TG Business Partners to keep the portfolio aligned with strategic plans and to embed a culture of digital innovation across the university.
• Partner with the PMO to maintain accurate cost profiles, benefits tracking and enable clear portfolio communication to the broader university context.

Key Qualifications & Experience

• Degree or equivalent professional qualification in project/portfolio management (e.g., Prince2, MSP, MoP).
• Proven experience managing large‑scale digital transformation portfolios with significant investment.
• Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
• Capacity to align portfolio management with university‑wide strategy and to influence senior decision‑makers.

Salary & Benefits

£72,998 – £74,458 per year (Grade 9). 37 days annual leave, pension plan, and other university benefits.
