To provide research support to the Principal Investigator’s Leverhulme Trust-funded project ‘Trade and the UK Territorial Constitution’, helping to lead to the publication of high-quality research. The post(s) may cover the following specific areas of interest: international trade, domestic intergovernmental relations, EU – UK relations.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- To undertake research, e.g., by planning, preparing, conducting, and recording the outcome of desktop research on the devolved dimension of trade policy.
- To maintain and update specialist knowledge, researching and critically appraising relevant literature within the area.
- To track and record current developments in UK Trade Policy.
- To track and record current developments in devolved government trade policy.
- To track and record current developments in EU – UK relations.
- To track and record current developments in the UK’s internal intergovernmental relations.
- To contribute to and support research publications and presentations as required.
Person Specification
- A degree in a relevant discipline (Politics, Law, International Relations), or equivalent experience.
- Substantive knowledge of constitutional law, devolution, EU law and governance, international trade law, and policy.
- Knowledge of research methods and techniques within the specialist field.
- Proven ability to analyze complex information and summarize appropriately.
- Proven communication skills, including presentation to various audiences.
- Excellent organizational and team-working skills.
- Must be available to work over summer 2025 (until 31 August). Please indicate your availability and the number of hours per week you can work. The role will start ASAP, with work until at least 31 August (potentially longer).
- Proven ability to work without close supervision.
