Welsh School of Architecture (WSA)
Hours: Approx. 9 hours a week for 22 weeks

Job Summary: You will support the development of a good-practice guide for implementing – a standard on health, wellbeing, and indoor environmental quality in non-domestic buildings (BS40102). The role involves contributing to environmental data analysis, supporting case study investigations, and assisting in the preparation of dissemination material, under the supervision of researchers from WSA and project partners.

Key Responsibilities:

– Assist in the literature review of environmental quality standards and state of the art monitoring approaches including IoT sensors.

– Support integration of environmental sensors (e.g., air quality, thermal comfort) with robotics Support environmental data collection and analysis using established monitoring tools.

– Participate in site-based data gathering in Cardiff University rooms, and partner case studies.

– Contribute to the drafting of the good-practice guide for a broad audience Attend project meetings and assist with event organization.

Person Specification

  • Undergraduate degree (or near completion) in architecture, engineering, or a related field Familiarity with indoor environmental quality (IEQ) concepts
  • Experience with environmental monitoring (e.g., temperature, humidity, COâ‚‚ sensors) and data analysis (e.g. Excel)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently
  • Postgraduate study in a relevant discipline (PGT or PGR student)
  • Familiarity with IEQ or/and monitoring standards
  • Experience with data processing software (e.g., advanced Excel, Python, R)
  • Knowledge of video editing or visual communication tools
  • Welsh language skills for supporting translation tasks
