Our on‑campus internships give you the chance to work alongside Cardiff University staff on a range of projects in areas such as research, digital content, policy, teaching and professional services.

All internships take place during the summer recess and pay £13.45 per hour plus holiday pay via Jobshop, with flexible hours depending on the project.

  • Research internships: Work with academics on active research projects and experience what a research career could look like.
  • Learning and teaching internships: Help shape the student experience and support innovative teaching developments.
  • Innovation and impact internships: Work on projects with real‑world impact, often in collaboration with external partners.
  • Professional services internships: Gain experience with professional services teams across the University, from communications and marketing to student experience and operations.

Please note this opportunity is only open to current Cardiff University undergraduates and students that have not undertaken an on‑campus internship in previous years. You can only take part in one On‑campus Internship, even if they are in different strands. You must be a Cardiff University undergraduate student that is returning to their undergraduate studies in autumn 2026/27 to be eligible for a summer 2026 internship. 2026 graduates and postgraduate students are not eligible to undertake an internship. You can apply to a maximum of 5 internships within the scheme.

Important information for working through Jobshop: All students who undertake work through Jobshop must complete a Right to Work check before starting any paid work or work‑related training. We will contact successful candidates regarding this. To find out more about Right to Work please contact jobshopforms@cardiff.ac.uk. Students are eligible to work through Jobshop for 3‑months post their end of studies date (usually noted on their student ID/ proof of enrolment letter), providing all Right to Work documents (such as visas) are still in date. Please only apply if you are eligible to work for the entirety of the role. If you are on an hour‑limited visa, it is your responsibility to ensure you do not exceed the working‑hour restriction Monday‑Sunday, each week. This is a legal restriction that must be adhered to for work completed both within and outside of Jobshop.
