The Students' Union Marketing and Communications Department are looking for students to join their team to document Welsh Varsity 2026, the Enriching Student Life Awards and the Society, Volunteering and Media Awards. This is an incredible opportunity to have your work featured across our social media, website, on artwork and more!
First of all, you need to be a current student. You need to own your own camera and equipment. You must have access to your own DSLR or digital mirrorless camera, a long lens and a flash gun. £12.71 per hour (basic rate) + 12.07% holiday pay and covers the cost of you personally insuring your camera.
At Varsity, our images will focus on the sports fixtures as well as the crowd and atmosphere of this citywide event. For our awards ceremonies, we want you to capture what it feels like to be celebrating with shots of award winners, as well as attendees enjoying the evening. Please note that, as you’ll take these photographs as our employee, we will hold the rights to these images, so please don’t put your watermark on them.
Who do we want to join our team? We need people who are skilled at sports and events photography as well as candid reportage style portraits, with experience of varied lighting and are good at capturing the ‘essence’ of an event. You need to be able to think creatively under pressure, have good people skills and be professional, reliable and enthusiastic.
