The successful candidate will be expected to complete the following,

  • Labelling project material
  • Change format of pictures from Jfif to Jepg
  • Contribute with content for the project webiste
  • Support social media management
  • Promotion of project activities in social media
  • Design posters promoting recognised women in STEM
  • Generate references from books

You will attend engagement activities focused on encouraging girls and women to STEM. Therefore, you should ensure you are available for the following dates before applying.

Careers in Earth and Environmental Sciences:

Date: Wednesday 11th February 2026 (mid-afternoon onwards).

Audience: children (all ages) with families

Place: Grange Pavilion, Grangetown

Earth and Environmental Literacy / Widening Participation:

Date: Monday 16th February (during Cardiff Science Festival)

Audience: Children (all ages) with families

Place: Sbarc/Spark

Earth and Environmental Literacy / Widening Participation:

Date: Wednesday 18th Feb 2026 ( 6-9pm, with set up from 4.30pm)

Audience: Children (all ages) with families

Place: National Museum, Cardiff

Possible date in June 2026, to be confirmed.

Any other task requested to achieve project aims and produce project outputs and outcomes.

Person Specification

  • Interest in or previous experience working in the topic of gender disparity in STEM
  • Interest and/or experience participating in engagement activities involving children and teenagers
  • Availability to attend the engagement activities (11/02/2026, 16/02/2026, 18/02/2026)
  • Experience as content creator for social media
  • Experience managing social media account(s)

Optional skills

  • Postgraduates are particularly welcome to apply as this role may suit the skills developed over your studies
  • Knowledge and/or experience in graphic design
  • Conversant with Endnotes reference management software
