Cardiff Students’ Union is looking for a permanent, full time Chef. You will be part of a friendly team where we strive to support the hospitality aspects of the organisation. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate practical experience in the catering industry, be a team player and have the ability to deliver high quality and consistency, whilst working under pressure.
We have a diverse range of food and beverage outlets, comprising of a traditional pub which is open seven days a week and serves food daily, a Starbucks coffee shop and assorted food outlets. We have several venues within the building and can accommodate up to 2150 for a club night, 400 for a banquet, 1500 for a live music event, and up to 4000 for all venue events. The role offers an excellent working environment and work life balance. You will work 35 hours per week, no split shifts and have 34 days annual leave, plus bank holidays.
Qualifications and Experience- Minimum two years previous chef experience
- NVQ/Diploma/Apprenticeship or equivalent in cookery
- Food safety certification level 2 Food Safety & Hygiene
- Knowledge of cooking techniques & knife skills
- Great communication, time management & the ability to work under pressure
- Ability to adjust to changes in the kitchen environment & customer choices
- Attention to detail and consistency when prepping, cooking, plating & cleaning
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to forward plan
