We are now seeking an inspiring and innovative leader to join us in the role of University Secretary. Reporting to the Chair of the Board of Governors and with a dotted line to the President and Vice-Chancellor, the University Secretary is one of the senior officers of the University, with organisation-wide responsibility for governance, legal affairs and compliance assurance.
The post-holder will ensure that the Board of Governors and its committees are advised and supported at a senior level, that high standards of governance are maintained, and that business is conducted professionally, effectively and efficiently. The post-holder is responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements across a range of the University’s activities and ensuring that the Vice-Chancellor, the Board of Governors and the University executive group are advised on all matters relating to compliance, regulation and assurance.
Candidates will bring significant experience in a senior governance and compliance role in a complex regulated sector along with substantial experience of supporting Boards and committees. You will bring a thorough knowledge of regulation, compliance and best practice and a track record of leading, managing and developing people. You will also have excellent planning skills, allied to well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, and a track record of delivering on plans to achieve targeted goals. You be confident in your ability to represent the University whilst engaging with and influencing external bodies and policy agendas.
