Please note that this opportunity is restricted to current Cardiff School of Technologies (CST) students and/or those who are in the final year of study and planning on enrolling on a further programme with the Cardiff School of Technologies.

Student Coaches are an essential part of our CST Community, providing peer support to other students on their programme and across the School, as well as showcasing the School during open days, applicant days and other events. The role has been established to provide academic and mentoring support to students on programmes delivered at the Cardiff School of Technologies.

The Student Coach will:

  • Support and coach other students on their programme through peer support.
  • Informally assess the student learning needs through discussion and provide feedback to students and the Module and Programme Leader.
  • Work with students in addressing academic queries on summative exercises and project work.
  • Collaborate with members of staff to identify and respond to learners' needs.
  • Develop ideas for promoting learning and discuss ideas around addressing a real-world problem.
  • Work with the Programme director/module leader to ensure learners have the necessary tools to address their learning needs.

What We Are Looking For

  • Currently studying at a minimum Level 3 qualification within Cardiff School of Technologies.
  • 5 GCSE’s at Grade C or above (or equivalent).
  • Good knowledge of study skills and application to learning.
  • Good knowledge of subject area.
  • Ability to plan and organise their own workload effectively to meet specified deadlines.
  • Reliable worker: Act as a positive and responsible role model for young people.
  • Ability to respond to individual needs.
  • Ability to communicate appropriately and effectively with staff and students.
  • Ability to motivate and develop confidence in other students.
  • Ability to evaluate and assess progression in order to provide feedback.
  • Work effectively as a team member and have a commitment to support and communicate with people.
  • Ability to respond to situations that arise in a professional manner, seeking guidance where appropriate.

Please note that due to the nature of these roles, the successful candidate will be expected to attend campus to undertake duties.
