This opportunity is available to current students of the University only. You will support the Global Student Advice Service by welcoming international students who have just arrived, primarily in September, January, and May, and helping them navigate unfamiliar university and UK procedures. You will provide guidance and reassurance to students, fostering a sense of belonging and community, and offering one-to-one support where needed. You will also participate in student-focused activities throughout the academic year as required.
As a representative of Cardiff Metropolitan University, you will always set a positive example, acting professionally by showing respect for people from all backgrounds, ethnicities, and abilities.
You will support by:
- Assisting in welcoming students, providing general advice about university life and Cardiff, and answering their questions.
- Being responsible for referring students and directing any complex/sensitive student issues to the Global Student Advice Service.
- Taking groups of international students on tours around the campus.

As an International Student Ambassador, you will bring a strong understanding of the challenges faced by international students, along with knowledge of different cultures and religions. You will be confident in promoting Cardiff Metropolitan University and the wider city, including transport links, services, and UK university processes. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills are essential, as well as the ability to support and motivate people from diverse backgrounds in a friendly, inclusive, and professional manner. A commitment to cultural awareness, equal opportunities, and providing a positive experience for students is key to this role.
